Hey there my name is Christopher Gregg, the Executive Officer of the company. You can just call me Chris though; I wanted to take the time to welcome you to another new year in the Carson High NJROTC! I am excited to see what this year will bring and I’m also excited to meet all of you! I have many jobs, but one that you’ll see me a lot for is the advancements. I also give the Chief Petty Officer Test so hopefully you’ll meet me eventually! I am always able to answer questions here at the ROTC building before and after school and during lunch. I look forward to meeting all of you, and I look forward to this year as your XO.                                     c/LT Christopher Gregg

Welcome to NJROTC, my name is C/LTJG Sergio Zarate. I am the Armed Drill Team Commander. I have been in the ROTC program for 4 years now and let me tell you it’s been a great ride so far. I want to take the time to encourage you guys to go out for the drill teams and become more of a part of the unit.  In the drill teams we practice Monday-Thursday 2 pm to 3:30 pm. It will give you guys a chance to come out and meet other cadets from different platoons. I hope you guys enjoy your year and you keep going for the rest of you high school years.                                                                                          c/LTJG Sergio Zarate

Hello, welcome to the Carson High NJROTC, my name is Bernardo Medina and I am the Master chief of this unit. I am responsible for the morale of this unit; I am also responsible for making sure the LPO’s are knowledgeable about their job and that they know the knowledge that they are responsible for teaching. I also run the advancements for Cadet Petty Officer Second Class, so if you are going for that rank come and find me and I will teach you everything you need to know to pass the advancement. The more involved you get the more fun you will have.

Congratulations on being in this fantastic NJROTC unit at CHS.

What makes this Unit so great is the family bond between the progressive freshmen, the welcoming upperclassmen, and the dedicated seniors. The senior class invites all members of NJROTC to be apart of this family.

Welcome back Upperclassmen! The seniors are very proud to be leading a group of cadets that are motivated and can lead by example. Keep up the positive attitude throughout the year, and the Unit’s achievements will reflect your attitude. This year will be heavily based upon a competition between the Unit to build camaraderie, create challenges and goals to achieve, and as an incentive to become a better cadet and leader. I first encourage you to be involved in the teams, events, and opportunities that are offered to you. This will be a great small goal to kick off they year and get cadets involved with the family. The larger goal that should be a factor in everyone’s decisions is to be prepared for the Annual Military Inspection. The expectations for this inspection are the goal that should be gradually achieved by the end of November. To achieve this goal, the Unit must work together, participate, and communicate. I am excited as this is a test of the Unit’s leadership, dedication, and work ethic.

Hello Freshmen! The Unit is very happy to have you introduced to NJROTC this year. Now, the senior class was once in your position three years ago and we know exactly what is floating through your head. We once were new cadets that had no clue what was going to be thrown at us. Most of all, we were all scared of Sergeant Major just like you. First, the organization of the unit will be introduced to you. It helps to understand the organization of the unit so that a cadet can be familiar with the structure of decision-making. Next, the “dreaded” uniform will be your responsibility. We all were first embarrassed to wear it, but soon embraced the uniform and took pride in representing the unit. The uniform should be worn correctly and on the proper schedule. One way to enjoy the uniform is to try and be the best; have the best shoes, have the best belt buckle,, and have the best overall appearance. Another way to enjoy the uniform is to earn ribbons and other awards that decorate the uniform. After this, drill will be soon expected from you. Focus and participation are the key values in learning drill properly and quickly. We can not emphasize enough, that participation is the first step in achieving success, so go out there wanting to be the best and reach your full potential. If you do this, the hard work will pay off with leadership responsibilities, respect, and awards. Most importantly, have fun! With every opportunity, be enthusiastic about you involvement and make the best out of your time in the Unit. I am excited to see who excepts the challenge of exceling, leading the pack, and becoming the future leaders of NJROTC.

Thank you everyone for your time to read this, but most of all choosing to take this opportunity. I am looking forward to seeing cadets become a close aspect of the family. Let’s have a great year and achieve our goals with enthusiasm!
